Not fun. Not fun at all.
The weather was at least 35deg and no electricity = no fan. Plus I was alone at home.
I called geraldine first, since we were texting.
Me: Walau 我的家停电!!
Ger: Huh then how? You want to talk to my father about it?
Me: No need lah I going to call my mother. I just inform you first. In case I die alone at home then you know why.
Haha and after I implanted the slightest idea that I might die alone at home, I was convinced that I AM going to die. << self inception.
I called my mama up and she instructed me to check the main electricity box thing. And *gulps* told me to push up any switch that was down.
Me: Huh walau 我会不会被电死 sia!!
Mama: Won't lah. Are your hands wet?
Me: Huh eh abit leh. Ok you wait I wear the oven mitten to protect myself.
I actually think that it was quite clever of me leh. Haha like so smart right!! Take the oven mitten to cut off any potential electricity being conducted through my body.
And after multiple attempts to revive the electricity in my home, there.....still wasn't any electricity.
My mama wanted me to check the electricity meter thing at the corridor (the ones that you share with your neighbour) and fix the switch. But she was afraid that I might just shut off my neighbour's electricity by mistake. Which is a highly probable assumption lah cause I am highly accident-prone.
Mama called my dad and since he was nearby, he decided to come home to rescue his only daughter.
The waiting period was torturous.
The sun was blazing, the living room was humid as hell, I became slightly delirious as I started talking to myself while folding a paper fan, and... sending out highly distressed texts to my friends.
Example of distressed text #1
To pei:
My house stop electricity!!!! Then no one at home and I try to push back the main switch without being electrocuted but still got no electricity. I waiting for my dad to come home now. :(( I am going to die!!!!!
And please don't judge me based on my abysmal failure in maintaining my composure during a short circuit. Hahahaha.
My dad was taking quite a bit of time so I decided to call him.
Me: Pa!!!!!!!! Where are you now!!!!!!!!!
Dad: At bedok reservoir. Why? I am on my way already.
Me: I am going to dieeeeeeeeee!!!!! I am dying!!!!!!!!
Dad: Hahaha okay I am coming back already.
Me: Lei ga lui yew sei!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (your daughter is dying)
And...when he reached home he got the electricity back in less than 5 minutes.
This concludes the day I lived without electricity.
P.S/ I know this isn't something that calls for commemorating. But I am currently really bored.
P.P.S/ I need to learn how to fix (?) the electricity the next time it decides to abandon me.
